A Letter From The Author

Greetings to whomever is reading this, my name is Bryce McIntee and this is my nonfiction writing portfolio. In this portfolio I have included the latest revisions of three of my nonfiction essays, Assault on My Respiratory System, My FBI Great-Grandma, and The Debate on Video Game Emulation. Assault on My Respiratory System is a story from when I was a teenager, it’s about a time when my family and I came home from a trip to a house that smelled like death. However, it wasn’t death but rotten food, and I spend a majority of the essay talking about how the smell was so bad that it still haunts me to this day. My FBI Great-Grandma is a piece where I talk about my great-grandmother who for most of her life worked at various departments in the U.S. government including the FBI as director Hoover’s Secretary. In that I also talk about what my mother has told me about her, like how she called my great-grandma Grandma Chum because she had a dog named Chumley. The final essay in this selection is called The Debate on Video Game Emulation. It’s an informative essay about the controversial topic of video game emulation, and my objective thoughts on it. I list off the various pros and cons, and possible solutions that I could see working, as well as my personal opinions and experiences on the topic. I do mention some terms that needed to be explained like ROMs and MAME, but I give good explanations about them. This final essay was a bit of a passion project and my opinion on the subject is a hill I will die on.

For those wondering about why I picked this design for this portfolio page, I picked it because it was what I was already using on my personal website. Plus, it was simple for me to put together new pages that looked professional and clean. I feel like I’ve made great papers thanks to the feedback that I received and the changes that I made. I hope you find enjoyment in reading my essays, and maybe learn something new or even get a fresh perspective on a subject.
